We met Pierre at lunch at the Majesty Building in Pudong. Maria selected him amongst dozens of dessert fruit and set him on her lunch tray. Unlike his fruity friends, Pierre did not end up consumed by a hungry foreigner - Fate had something quite different planned for him...
The thing is, we took Pierre on a once-in-a-pear's-lifetime trip to Beijing. Here is his story.

Pierre is ready to go! |
Pierre telling a joke over a cup of hot java. |
On the train there was some time to read about China. |
First stop, the Great Wall of China. But first, before the first stop, Subway. |
Pierre taking in the scenery. |
Pierre felt quite overwhelmed at times at the Great Wall. Being a tiny pear and all. And the wall, well, it is THE wall, y'all. |
Hey, Pierre - you're alright! |
Pierre tasting some Beijing duck. |
Occasionally a busy globe-trotting pear like Pierre has some time to sit back, enjoy the sights (Summer Palace in Haidian) and have an ice-cold beer (Tsingtao). |
Pierre gazing upon the Forbidden City. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
Pierre ended up enjoying his time in Beijing so much that he decided to stay there a bit longer until moving on to the next city - wherever that may be. We hope that the story of Pierre will inspire more people to take their fruit (or even vegetables!) with them on their travels.
:D hyvä pierre!!
